This year six Virginia state parks celebrated their 70th anniversary: Douthat, Westmoreland, Hungry Mother, Fairy Stone, Staunton River and Seashore, now called First Landing. First Landing State Park on the Chesapeake Bay has the distinction of being the most visited park in Virginia, and is recorded in the National Register of Natural Landmarks. The park is also listed among the best campgrounds in Virginia according to the guidebook The Best In Tent Camping: Virginia.
